🚩 20% Essay • This assignment is an essay. It asks you to put yourself in the position of Curator of Canadian Art at the National Gallery of Canada (NGC). As curator, you are charged with acquiring one new work for the NGCʼs Canadian art collection. Using criteria discussed in class, your task is to consider which work would make the most significant contribution to the collection. You must argue for your decision and provide evidence of why your choice is valid – use compare and contrast and cite from either text or posted to Blackboard readings. • Each student has the opportunity to access me by email if any issues/concerns come up. Students should be prepared with a written outline of your topic, any research problems you might be having, bibliography, etc. In choosing a topic, start with your own interests, experiences, fascinations and how they might inform your own creative practice. Consider the time constraints of the course and develop a manageable topic. It is absolutely imperative that students manage their time wisely. They should not let themselves fall behind schedule otherwise they may find it extremely difficult to catch up by the time a deadline arrives. • If students find that they cannot finish an assignment or keep up with the workload, they must speak to the instructor immediately, to discuss practical ways to make the course manageable. • The Final project paper is written in prose form. It must be preceded by a two-three-sentence abstract summarizing the paper. It must include citations for all ideas cited/quoted or used in the essay and a separate bibliography/ works cited page for any works cited and/or consulted. The college library has a section of books on writing skills and guides. Consult them! Remember to proof read your paper (out loud works well) for spelling and grammar. Unless otherwise agreed, the essay will be 4-5 double-spaced pages, not including the bibliography, notes, etc
