Introduction

An organization uses strategic plans to define its strategy in the decision-making process associated with resource allocation. A strategic plan consists of five key elements, including customer trends, objectives, goals, vision, and mission of the particular organization. In our context, we will consider the Baptist Health Organization. It was established in 1960, and its headquarters are based in Coral Gables in South Florida. The organization serves around seven hospitals in the United States, Miami Cancer Institute, Miami Cardiac, and Vascular Institute, Miami Orthopedics and Sports medicine Institute and Baptist Health Center. In the past, the organization’s strategic plan failed due to low profits resulting from hospitals that are members of the organization. Another weakness of the organization is the high turnover of the front desk applicants.

It is significant to examine the organization’s strategic plan due to the changing healthcare environment that is imposing a challenge for the previous idea to be applicable. The healthcare system faces challenges such as increased costs, strict government regulations, the problem of adapting to new technologies, and many others. The Baptist Health organization is governed by a board of Trustees who seek execution of vision and goals of the organization. Also, a team of professionals is engaged in the governance structure (Hunter et al, 1995). The board has a compensation committee of independent members that are never compensated.

Baptist Health Organization offers a wide range of services such as medical, surgical, pediatrics, and many others. The organization is marked by a pineapple that symbolizes a sign of hospitality. The pineapple symbol was adopted during the Italian renaissance period. Arthur Vining Davis donated the land on which Baptist health was built and gave funds. The magnate said that the pineapple represented the warm and friendly services that were offered. In many years, the pineapple fountain still exists as a significant symbol of the organization. A pineapple pin is given to new employees to attach to their employee’s identification badge as a sign of commitment to the organization. Baptist Health offers outpatient services to their customers that provide urgent care, surgical and diagnostic services (Mazur Gibson & Harries, 1995).

Mission

The mission of the Bishop Health organization is to promote the well-being of people and preserve life. It is a faith-based organization guided by the spirit of Christ and Christian ethics. The organization is committed to maintaining high standards of clinical excellence based on integrity and moral values. With its based spiritual foundation, the organization is dedicated to providing cost-effective and high-quality services. Its services are not discriminative, regardless of origin, race, and creed.

Vision

The organization’s vision is to be prominent to all communities in terms of high-quality services. It hopes that people will always turn to the organization for healthcare services. The Baptist Health organization hopes to expand its clinical services to ensure patient safety (Stubblefield, 2011). Baptist Health strives to use innovations in health technology to increase the nature of services offered. It aims at becoming an international organization in healthcare innovation.

Values

The organization’s primary value is promoting and advocating the general health of individuals through their responsibility and charitable services (Stubblefield, 2011). Also, it purposes treating their patients with integrity, passion, and dignity. Besides, the organization campaigns against discrimination of individuals and foster peace among people of different diversities.

Baptist Health organization incorporates the value of respect by treating their customers equally and wholeheartedly. Another value that guides the organization is excellence. It aims at exceeding the expectations of their customers through innovations and consistent evaluation of their achievements. Stewardship helps the health organization to provide services that are less costly through proper management of the available resources, (Stubblefield, 2011).

Goals

At Baptist Health, they are committed to providing a healthy patient’s environment and reducing any possible harm. The organization has set specific goals to curb two hospitals acquired infections. The infections are catheter-associated urinary tract infections, which is a bacterial infection that causes diarrhea. Another disease is Clostridium difficile infection, which causes bloating and pain. Stopping these infections is significant in providing a safe environment for the patients.
