I need help writing an intro paragraph for a literary essay in which I have to compare/contrast two works. This is all I have thus far.
“Mother to Son” by Langston Hughes effortlessly portrays the true ugliness of the tragedy of the speaker’s life through a plethora of metaphors, all of which are centered around the act of climbing stairs. This serves to accentuate the true horrors of her world and her relentless will to contend with such hardships in spite of her lack of opportunity to be able to live a simpler life.
This idea is starkly contrasted by Robert Frost’s “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,”
