In my field, I believe that the Hierarchical and Decentralized approaches will be most beneficial. The ability to influence and monitor staff in my profession is paramount to the success of the program. We are constantly providing examples of how to properly engage in a professional manner when dealing with co-workers, parents, and students alike. Hierarchical control involves monitoring and influencing employee behavior through extensive use of rules, policies, the hierarchy of authority, written documentation, reward systems, and other formal mechanisms (Daft, 2014). By utilizing policies and rules to monitor employees’ behaviors we can identify potential issues before they arise. Now on the flip side, Decentralized control helps cultivate cultural values, traditions, shared beliefs, and trust to foster compliance with organizational goals (Daft, 2014). When we implement both approaches, we are able to be a very successful school district.

In my organization, when we become inclusive with staff, parents, and students we are able to work through communication misunderstandings and overall have a higher graduation rate among our students. Due to the fact that we have a very diverse group of individuals working so closely for the common goal, we must be respectful and understanding of backgrounds and economic status. An inclusive climate is considered a prerequisite for inclusion and allows for making use of wide range of perspectives and ideas that can enrich decision-making processes and boost the performance of diverse teams (Ashikali, 2020). By working in teams, and being open to honest feedback our organization can be very productive in young minds and transform lives.
