Taking the largest school in your local community (Saint Leo University), you will develop a plan that reflects your consideration of uncertainty and mitigation. You have just received a call from the mayor’s office that parents are increasingly apprehensive about the risk of an active shooting situation at the school and his office wants your plan on his desk this week.

Using the Internet as your primary medium for collecting information and resources, develop and prepare a plan that deals with the uncertainty, mitigation, and, ultimately the preparedness of a community faced with an active school shooting. Remember, the plan must utilize only the existing emergency management functions in your community. If you must rely on “outside help” from other communities, your plan must describe their lawful authority to participate (mutual aid agreements) and whether or not these agreements are in place or need to be developed. Within your plan, describe how federal protocols such as NIMS or ICS made your planning more comprehensive and universal.

The paper must be in APA format and include a cover page, abstract, discussion, conclusion, and references. Your paper should go beyond the obvious, be written at a graduate level, and must be at least 1,700 words in length. You must use at least three resources to support your position. Remember, all resources including, but not limited to, journals, magazines, and/or books must be properly cited using APA style.
