Foreign Movies
The movie I intend to watch is ‘
the rules of the Game.’ This is a movie which has been acted in a French social setting. It is a comedy that Renoir does. The main reason why Renoir created this movie is that he wanted to bring out a good picture of French society. He has involved various characters who, at the beginning, are free to do what they want, but after some time, he limits them to the symbolic side of the movie. The film exudes love and reflects society’s moral climate (Hendley., 1999). The movie’s primary theme is to show the differences between the lower-class, middle-class, and high-class individuals within the French social setting. He uses symbols like houses to show the differences between these three groups. The movie is exciting because it is well-set, has clear themes, and is easy to understand.
For those students who have no interest in foreign movies, I encourage them to develop an interest in watching them. These movies have broader themes that explain issues that are happening all over the world. The films help one to have a broader perspective and feeling about what is happening in other countries. After watching such a movie, individuals can develop ways of solving contemporary societal issues. Apart from the fun one extends towards these movies, they help one learn about other cultures and individuals’ ways of living. It also attracts the need to do more research about a particular culture or desire to explore various countries. Foreign movies create a more comprehensive view of life, the issues people pass through, and how they can be resolved. Those who have watched foreign movies know that it helps them develop an extensive perspective about other people worldwide and learn about issues they pass through.

“The Rule of the Game” and whether I would have changed the ending if I were writing the screenplay. Before we dive into this topic, let me say this movie is a masterpiece. Jean Renoir did an incredible job crafting a complex narrative that reflects society’s hypocrisy and superficiality.
If I were in charge of the screenplay, I might have considered changing the ending just a bit. Do not get me wrong; the tragic conclusion perfectly encapsulates the film’s themes. However, it left me feeling unsatisfied.
In my version, I would have added a glimmer of hope amidst all the chaos. Maybe one character would have learned from their mistakes and shown genuine growth. This tiny light ray could have provided much-needed closure for the audience.
Do not get me wrong; I understand why Renoir ended it on such a bleak note. It emphasizes how society perpetuates its destruction through its rules and conventions. Sometimes we need a little optimism to balance out all that darkness.
In conclusion, while “The Rule of the Game” is undoubtedly brilliant, adding hope to the ending could have made it even more impactful for viewers like myself, who appreciate some silver lining in their stories.
